Remember Celebration Easter Sermon

Are you happy? I mean, are you really happy? This teaching on the Spiritual Discipline of Celebration deals with living a life of inner and true joy. I hope its helpful.

Hey Church Leaders & Busy Volunteers

I know Easter can be such a busy time. And it is also easy to miss out on the personal worship experience in the process of ministering to people on such a big day. Happens to me all the time…

A few years ago, we started doing additional gatherings on Easter weekend and quickly noticed that one of the types of people who came were church leaders from other congregations just looking to unplug from responsibility for a moment and worship personally.

With that in mind, if it would be beneficial to you and your family, let me invite you to one of our alternate Easter gatherings. You could worship without interfering with your normal Easter schedule.

We have gatherings on Sat, Sun & Mon evenings.

Check out FourRiversChurch.com for details.

4RC Calvert’s new facility… just in time for Easter

Got to spend the better part of the day with Calvert Associate Campus Pastor Ross Howard, Worship Leader Terry Freeman, Calvert River Kids Coordinator Leah Lummus, 4RC Tech Director Zach Bishop & my wife lovely Stephanie.

We did a great deal of technical work on the new 4RC Calvert facility. We hung big screens, ran lots of cable, worked on accent lighting, etc.

In fact, when I left, Ross & Terry were hanging doors in the River Kids area.

This weekend Dale Totten is planning on hanging the new sign on the front of the building.

4RC River Kids Director Sharon Stinson and her River Group will be working on the new middle school ministry room.

Loads of work going on.

Just in time for our weekend Easter services on Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

Check FourRiversChurch.com for all Easter worship times & locations.

Get your tail in church this Easter

OK. Maybe that was a little over the top.. lol.

But really, there is no better time than this. Churches, the good ones at least, pull out all the stops at Easter. They are so excited and hopeful the new guests will show up. And nearly everything they do is to the highest quality that they can muster. There really is no better time to check out a church.

I know that at FourRiversChurch.com in Western Kentucky, we go crazy, in a good way, at Easter. We added 4 extra gatherings at our 3 campuses. We will be led in worship by at least 6 different bands/worship leaders. We will be led through the gatherings by at least 6 different emcees. Our kids ministries will be full of excitement and anticipation.

Everything is at its best at Easter.

You can find a complete list of Easter gatherings for Four Rivers by checking out the large banner at the top of www.fourriverschurch.com.

So why is Easter so important? I mean, its all about eggs, bunnies and chocolate, right?

Well, that’s certainly part of the American holiday. But Easter is much older than America or American tradition.

Easter is the biggest holiday in the life of a Christian. Easter is huge in importance and value.

The week leading up to Easter is called HOLY WEEK. Although a Roman Catholic could probably better describe all the intricacies of holy week, let me give you an overview.

Palm Sunday (The Sunday before Easter) commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Holy Monday commemorates the moment when Mary pours perfume over Jesus feet. This story seems to lead to Judas Iscariot’s betrayal because he was worried about how much the perfume cost and that Mary was being wasteful. This is a very special story in the development of the gospel.

Holy Tuesday commemorates the Parable of the 10 Virgins which Jesus used to teach about readiness and preparedness. It is on this day that we get ourselves ready to meet Christ through his death and resurrection.

Holy Wednesday commemorates, among other things, the decision made by Judas Iscariot to betray Christ.

Holy “Maundy” Thursday commemorates the washing of feet and the last supper.

Good Friday remembers the death of Christ on the Cross to forgive the sins of the world. It is a very somber and difficult day for those who take this holiday seriously.

Saturday is about Jesus’s body, dead in the tomb.

But then Sunday is Easter! Tomb empty. Stone rolled away. Salvations secure. Lives Changed!

And that is why this is such a huge holiday. It commemorates the most important part of Christian history.

Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in church this week.

We would love to have you at Four Rivers.

So how does Four Rivers Church reach 1000 people?

Ever since I cast the vision of reaching 1000 people through the Easter season, I’ve had a solid line of questions ultimately asking, “How in the world are we going to do that?”

Here is how…

1. First and formost, this is about God. We are not going to go out and reach 1000 people ‘for’ God. We are going to reach 1000 people ‘with’ God.

In other words, when this is all said and done, reaching this many people will be something that He did through and in us.

And although the target seems to be external… Reaching 1000 people in a church of 500 people… I believe the biggest goal here is ‘internal.’

God is going to build your faith ad capacity for BIG vision. God is going to make us less intimidated and more bold. That’s all ‘in’ us.

He will do this by reaching a huge number of people through us. But the ultimate greatest value next week will not be what happens through us… It will be what happens in us. So be open to being changed internally by Jesus.

2. Secondly, we are going to join why He is doing by 3 ultimate things.

A. Pray. Pray like it all depends on Him. Ultimately it does. Without a move of God it will not happen. Let’s be a prayerful people. Surprise yourself, your spouse, your friends, etc by how much you pray for this.

B. Bring. Consider who you know and have connection with that is unchurched. Think an pray about bringing them. And then do it. Invite, cast vision, encourage, be excited… Let’s bring hundreds of people to these gatherings. You may personally end upcoming to 2 or 3 gatherings because of all the folks you bring.

Use email, Facebook, twitter, snail mail, corded rotary phones, yell over the fence, share at the work coffee pot…

Whatever you have to do to join God through inviting and bringing…

We will offer some support with radio ads and invite cards.

C. Serve. This Sunday you will hear all about how you can serve. Just do what you can willingly.

That’s how Four Rivers reaches 1000 people through the Easter season.

You may have heard by now that Four Rivers Church is hoping and expecting to connect with 1000 or more people this year during the week leading up to Easter Sunday.
