My iPad…

It will be here by the end of the month.

I ordered an iPad yesterday.  Stephanie is gifting it to me for Father’s Day.

I have to tell you that I am very excited about this new tool… or should I say toy.  My life has changed so much over the past few years and I have had to learn to live ‘on the go.’  The challenge is to begin to experience the beautiful and quiet things in life, in spite of the speed or pace at which it is all set.

So I have embraced technology that helps me to slow down.  Or technology that simply lets me do what I need to do where I need to do it…

The iPhone was a huge step forward for me.  I almost stopped using my laptop computer all together.  I no longer had to be at my desk to access the net.  I no longer had to be at my desk to type or to network with friends or colleagues.  It was such a release for me.

The iPad certainly seems to promise an even greater form of freedom from the task oriented life of what can become an ‘office’ job.  So pray for me, I’m excited about seeing even more sunlight in my future.  I am excited about studying for sermons at the coffee shop or praying while journaling under an oak tree somewhere.  I even think I might be able to occasionally work from home.

Very exciting…
