Intro to Mission

It’s fashionable these days in many Christian circles to throw the word “mission” around every chance we get. At 4RC, we end every service with the words “Live The Mission.” I end every post on here with those same words. And in recent years there’s been much Christian literature published on the concept of “mission.” So it’s really not difficult to spot this word floating around any contemporary Christian venue.

And for good reason—it’s important to recognize we do indeed have a mission. As Christians, we are not tasked with just sitting around waiting for heaven. We have been given salvation, the Holy Spirit, and our resources for a purpose. There is much work to be done.

That’s why I thought over the next several posts we could discuss our mission—what it is, how we go about doing it, and the many distractions we commonly face in accomplishing our mission. I hope you find this series of posts relevant and helpful.

It’ll be tough but I will try to keep these posts short and to the point. Just be aware that even though the topic of each post could easily be expanded to fill an entire lecture, I’m only going to try to hit the high points. And certainly, please feel free to comment whether you agree or disagree with what I say—there’s plenty of room for discussion.

Tomorrow we’ll discuss what our mission is and even a little about what it is not. Until then….

Live The Mission,
Greg
