Love. Hate. The two extremes of relationship.
In Matthew 5, Jesus told us to love our enemies. Why?
A person who hates someone else makes themselves an enemy of that person. But a person who truly loves another cannot view that person as their enemy no matter what horrible things they do or say. It’s impossible. So if we truly have love for one another, we have no enemies.
The qualification to love someone doesn’t depend upon if they see us as friend or foe. The qualification is they exist.
If we have enemies, it’s because we’ve chosen to view them that way. We’ve chosen not to love them.
