Hard 2 say which is most important. If we were all the same and agreed on everything ( especially in a relationship ) I think we would get bored fast. Sometimes having differences helps us to come together and get things done in a manner that benefits us. Just wish I could get our Senate, Congress and President to see it that way.
IDK. Unity within our closest relationships is important, but without some diversity it sure would be boring. Paul writes about unity with essentials but liberty with non-essentials. That is most likely the way we should base our relationships too.
Well put! That’s about what I was thinking.
I would say that both are equally important in relationships, and in church. It is like most things in Scripture, both/and (Hebrew thinking) not either/or (Greek thinking).
Consider God himself, Unity (One God) and Diversity (Three Persons). Likewise, we are all parts of the Church, the Body of Christ, which is made up of many parts with one Head, which is Christ.
If we have unity without diversity we end up with uniformity, which is not God’s plan for us. Conversely, if we have diversity without unity we end up with division, which we are also warned against.
We cannot choose one or the other, either in our friendships or in church, we need to celebrate both as God intended!
